Group Progression Classes

Take the Next Step

Group Progression Classes are for dog-and-handler teams who already have a training foundation and are ready to build on it.

These classes focus on applying learned skills around dogs, people, distractions, movement, and real-world challenges.

Who These Classes Are For

Group Progression Classes are not beginner obedience classes or open-enrollment group classes.

They are designed for current and former TAZ K9 Academy students who have already established the necessary training foundation and are ready to continue progressing.

Teams should already have experience with the skills, communication, and training tools required for their individual dog before attending.

Participation is based on each team's current training level and ability to safely and productively work within the group environment.

If you're unsure whether you and your dog are ready, reach out before booking.

What We Work On

Class topics may vary, but can include:

  • Engagement and neutrality

  • Leash handling

  • Recall

  • Place and duration

  • Impulse control

  • Working around distractions

  • Real-world obedience

  • Handler timing and communication

  • Environmental confidence

The goal is simple: better handling, stronger communication, and more reliable training.

Handler Development

Group class is just as much about improving the handler as it is the dog.

You'll work on timing, leash skills, reward placement, communication, reading your dog, and making better decisions without relying on constant trainer direction.

The goal is to help you become a more confident and capable handler.

Class Expectations

Required Equipment

All handlers must bring the required class equipment and any training tools currently being used with their dog.

Please review the equipment list before attending.
